Windows 10 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting? Try these fixes

Do you try to pair a Bluetooth device in Windows but end up finding your Windows 10 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting? Change Bluetooth Power Management Settings

One of the most common reasons why the Windows 10 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting is that you enable the feature of  “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” in Windows 10.  To disable this feature, just follow the steps below.

1. Tap on the Start menu in Windows 10 and type in Device Manager

2. Under the Device Manager, scroll down to find the Built-in Bluetooth device

3. Right-click the Bluetooth device and select the Properties

4. Now  find the Power Management option and you need to uncheck the option of Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Update your Bluetooth driver

Another solution you can try when your windows 10 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting is to update Bluetooth driver. To update the Bluetooth driver, please follow the instructions below

1. Left-click the Start menu and then type in Device Manager in the search box

2. Navigate to the Bluetooth device you want to update and right-click it. After that, just select the Update Driver option

3. In this step, there are two options: Search automatically for updated driver software and Browser my computer for driver software. We suggest you select the first one to continue the updating process. But you can choose to upload driver software from your computer.

4. Follow the following steps according to the instructions.  If the driver update is not found on your computer, you can visit the manufacturer’s website and download the latest Bluetooth driver software.

Note: If you can not see any Bluetooth devices under the Device Manager, you can follow these steps to enable the Bluetooth connection feature. Go to Start and then navigate to Settings>Devices>Bluetooth & Other devices>Turn on Bluetooth

Restart Bluetooth Service in Windows 10

You may also try to restart the Bluetooth service in Windows 10 if Bluetooth devices keep disconnecting on your computer.

1. Press Windows key+R

2. Type Service.msc in the box and click on OK

3. Locate the Bluetooth Support Service. Right-click on it and select the Properties option

4. Select Automatic under the Startup type category

5. Tap on Ok to save the settings



Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter

No matter what kinds of problems you face in Windows 10, running the troubleshooter is one of the most recommended solutions you could try to fix the issues.  This is the same true when your Windows 10 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting.   

To run Bluetooth Troubleshooter in Windows 10, go to the Start menu and select Settings. Next, navigate to Update and Security>Troubleshoot>Bluetooth>Run the Troubleshooter subsequently.

Reinstall Bluetooth Driver

It may work properly to fix the Bluetooth disconnection issue just by reinstalling the Bluetooth driver on your computer.  You need to uninstall the Bluetooth driver firstly. Now follow the steps below to get it done properly.

1. Go to the Start menu and type Device Manager

2. Locate the Bluetooth device from the list of options. Right-click on it and select the Uninstall Device.

3. When Bluetooth Driver is uninstalled from your Windows 10, just reboot the computer and the Windows will automatically download and install the Bluetooth driver. If the Bluetooth driver is not reinstalled automatically, you can also go to Settings>Update &security>Windows updates and select the Check for updates or download it manually from the manufacturer’s site.

Unpair the Bluetooth and reconnect it again

When the Windows 10 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting, it is also worth a try to unpair the exiting Bluetooth device and connect it again to your Windows 10.

1. Go to Settings>Devices>Bluetooth &other devices

2. On the right side, just locate your Bluetooth device and click on it. After that,  tap on remove device.

3. Now go back to the same setting page and click on the Add Bluetooth or other device option to add the Bluetooth device again in Windows 10
