In this post, we bring you 3 different solutions about how to fix the Windows search engine not working on Microsoft outlook.
1. Run the command
The first solution you can try while facing the issue of “the windows search engine is currently disabled” is to run the command
- Select the Start menu from your Windows 10 or 7 and type RUN
- After that, type services.msc and press Enter key
- Now locate the Windows search option in the list
- In the setting box, please change the Startup type to Automatic.
- Save the setting and restart you computer.
2. Remove and re-add Outlook from Index
Apart from the fixes above, it is also advisable to reset the indexing process from Microsoft Outlook. Namely, you can try to remove and then re-add outlook from the index.
- From the Outlook settings, go to File and then select Options
- Now locate the Search feature and tap on Indexing options
- You can click on Modify and then remove Microsoft outlook from the index. After that, close the box and exit the outlook
- Open the Outlook again and follow the steps above and then re-add the Microsoft Outlook to the index again
- Restart your computer and check whether the issue of The windows search engine is currently disabled is fixed now
3. Ensure indexing service and Windows Search are running
If the solution mentioned above still can not fix the issue of “The windows search engine is currently disabled”, do not worry as you can try another fix below . What you need to do is make sure the indexing service and Windows search are checked under the feature of Turn Windows features on or off.
- On your computer, type the control panel from the Start menu and press Enter to run it.
- Next, navigate to Programs> programs and features and then find the Turn Windows features on or off.
- Just make sure the options of indexing service and windows search are checked
- You can restart your computer and see how it works now
