Give permissions
If your facetime or skype camera is not working, it may happen when permission isn’t given to these apps. So you can check whether you have already given permissions to to the apps that can access your in-built camera. Follow the steps below to give apps permissions
- Go to Apple menu and then select System Preferences
- Now choose security & privacy
- Next, select the tap of privacy and tap on Camera
- Finally, choose the checkbox of the apps you want to give access to your camera.
Update Mac software
Sometimes, the reason why the MacBook Pro camera is not working or connecting is that the current Mac software is outdated. The new updates from the Mac can bring some advanced features and help improve the device security. You can try to update the Mac software to fix the MacBook Pro camera not working on Mac.
- Just choose the Apple menu and then go to System Preferences

Try another camera app

Force quit VDCAssistant and AppleCameraAssistant

- First off, go to applications > Utilities and open the Terminal on your Mac

sudo killall VDCAssistant

sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant

- Turn on your Mac
- Pres and hold the Shift key on Mac
